One tip to maintain, not gain, over the holidays

We just want to maintain our health this month

The holiday madness has begun. And, there is no reason not to indulge this season. But, we also don’t want to feel regretful and bloated come January 1st.

So, what we can do instead of trying to diet right now? Because dieting in December is risky. There is a high probability of giving up and consequently feeling like crap about giving up.

Instead what we want to do is maintain. This time of year is demanding enough, and we don’t want to end up frustrated with ourselves.

HOW do we maintain?

I recently chatted with Marci Thear, owner of DigIn Fitness, to find out how we can maintain our health over the holidays. She is an AH-MAZING fitness instructor and nutrition counselor. I can’t say enough about her. Marci is pretty much a local celebrity here, and she is the person who inspired me to become a fitness instructor. She will seriously make you feel like you can conquer the world in the gym.

Marci’s first tip is that maintaining is all about balance. So, after we all just had a nice Thanksgiving feast, let’s switch to something lighter. She recommends making a lean protein, like Salmon, for dinner. She also suggests dropping the carbs and loading up on the greens for post-feast meals.

Thankfully, she isn’t telling us to not indulge, because well, that’s not going to happen. At least not for me… She is just saying to balance. Okay, I can handle that.

Let’s enjoy this time of year and not beat ourselves up for indulging a bit. And, check out this video to hear more about her and what she recommends doing in order to maintain over the holiday season.
