Why Facebook Live?

Lately, the case is being made to use Facebook LESS. And, I agree, staring at your phone all day is NOT healthy. But, there are some really great benefits from social media, and Facebook Live can actually be really beneficial.

If you aren’t already using Facebook Live, you need to be. Whether or not you own a business, Facebook Live is hot. And, check out this post for 8 Ways Facebook Live Can Improve Your Life.

How to create an amazing Facebook Live video

Okay, so now that you know WHY you ought to use Facebook Live, here is HOW…

Oh, and don’t worry. All that you really need to shoot a video is Facebook, the internet, and your phone or laptop.

If you want to get a little fancy, here is what I recommend:

  • Headphones with a mic attached (usually whatever came with your phone is perfect.)
  • Diva Light to brighten your face.

  • Tripod to hold your phone steady.

The Format:

For any video, there are three simple steps to clearly deliver your message.

1. Introduction.

Introduce yourself in case people are sharing your videos (and hopefully, people are sharing them!) And then, introduce the content.

Example: “Hey guys! My name is Bridgette Petrino, founder of Mommy Needs a Timeout. Today, I am going to tell you how you can create an amazing Facebook Live video in three easy steps.”

2. Deliver

Give your valuable information.

Example: “Step one is to introduce yourself, etc.”

3. Call to Action

Here is where you wrap up your message by giving your viewers a clear “Call to Action.” Be direct. If you included a link in the description, point to it.

Example: “If you are ready to start creating your own amazing Facebook Live videos, join the free 30-day challenge at www.bridgettepetrino.com/livechallenge”

Here are a couple of tips to make your videos even better:

  1. Look at the dot on your phone while talking (not at yourself.)
  2. It’s okay to keep some notes beside you for reference.
  3. Talk to your viewers, and say “hi.”
  4. Be direct. If you want them to comment, say “comment below.”
  5. Reply to every comment on your video (this increases visibility.)
  6. Shares are King, Comments are Queen, Likes are Jacks. The more of each, the better your visibility.
  7. Silence and pauses are okay. And, they are much better than a bunch of ums & uhs.
  8. Rewatch your videos to see what you can do better next time.
  9. Smile, smile, smile.
  10. Remember, the majority of people who watch your video will see the replay of your video. So, no need to repeat yourself every time a new viewer hops on.

Move forward imperfectly

The best thing about live videos is that they don’t have to be perfect. They are real, and that’s why they are so popular. So, have fun with them, let your personality shine, and move forward imperfectly.
