3 Key Benefits of Laughter

What makes you laugh?

We’ve all heard the phrase “Laughter is the best medicine.” Personally, I tend to be a very serious person. I’ve had to take on a lot of responsibility at a young age and so I have to admit, I don’t laugh much. It takes a lot to make me laugh and I have a very dry sense of humor. If you can relate, you might want to check out this post and how adding some laughter into your life can be very beneficial.

Top 3 Benefits of Laughter

I am not a doctor but after doing some quick research I found a whole bunch of specific reasons why laughter is so important and how it can improve your life. Here are my top 3:

  1. Laughter boosts your immune system. According to research (in this case webmd.com) laughter has many health benefits which in turn improves your body’s immune system. I’ll take that!
  2. Laughter reduces stress. It’s pretty obvious that when you are laughing and smiling your load seems a little lighter. In our rushed culture we could all use a little stress relief.
  3. Laughter strengthens your core. I am really into fitness, so I love this benefit. Laughing is actually considered an exercise and burns calories!

So, those are my key benefits to adding more laughter into your life. There were a bunch of other benefits such as improving memory, increasing creativity and lowering blood pressure. Overall, I don’t think anything bad can come from adding more laughter into your life.
